Cast & Characters (4)
Bits & Timeline (12)
The V1 Cut Reaction and Roll Call
The crew of an indie short film watches their first cut. They immediately descend into passive-aggressive praise and defensive posturing about deadlines and Jazzy Fest.
"My main goal is Jazzy Fest."
"I'm a producer, so I'm already thinking about distribution."
"I thought it would be great for PR."
The iMovie Editor and the Multi-Hyphenate Grip
Daniel reveals he edited the film on iMovie after failing to learn Premiere. Gus lists his dozens of technical roles, including 'greens' and 'crafty,' while bragging about his electric truck.
"We finally landed on iMovie and I think it's pretty good."
"I did sound and I did lighting and I did gaffing and I did I was first AD."
"You were able to CGI something on iMovie is really impressive."
The Tinnitus Artistic Choice
Gianna complains about a ringing sound throughout the film. Gus defends it as an artistic choice representing the character's tinnitus, which he personally suffers from due to Coachella.
"I've gone to Coachella every year since I was eight and I have tinnitus."
"Get the ringing out of this."
The Coverage Sabotage and White Balance
Gus points out that Daniel edited the film to only show himself listening rather than Daisy speaking. Daniel blames the footage quality and a lamp Gianna brought in that ruined the white balance.
"Every time she's talking, we're watching you listening."
"I wanted that lamp to represent loneliness in the back."
"You threw off the [ __ ] white balance the second you brought that lamp in."
Taming of the Pool: Act 1 Scene 3
The crew watches a clip of their Shakespeare adaptation, 'Taming of the Pool.' They explain their scholarly decision to invent 'Act 1 Scene 3' by reordering the play.
"There actually is no Act 1 Scene 3 of Taming of the Shrew."
"We have named Act 2 Scene 1, Act 1 Scene 3."
The Minion Reference and the Ringing Tinnitus
The crew discusses a strange 'banana' sound effect Gus added to the film as a Minion reference. Gianna reveals that Gus played a high-pitched ringing sound throughout the entire shoot to represent tinnitus, ruining the audio.
"What was the banana there? It sounded like a Minion saying banana."
The Lost BTS Footage and the Fruit Roll-Up Tongue
Daniel plays a clip of 'lost' footage where Gus is seen being unprofessional on set, including making a tongue out of a Fruit Roll-Up while Gianna tries to keep the production on task.
"Look, a fruit roll as a tongue. Isn't that funny?"
"This should have been burned. I talked to Gobi who was dumping our footage. I said dump this hard."
Daisy's Ulterior Voiceover Reel Motive
Daisy admits she only wants to keep certain shots because she is building a voiceover reel. Gus argues that a voiceover reel shouldn't have video, but Daisy insists that 'everything is video now' because of TikTok.
"I am working on a voiceover reel as well and so I was hoping to use some of this footage where I'm not in it."
"A voiceover reel doesn't have any face. It's an audio file, Daisy!"
The Shakespearean Line Reading Disaster
Daniel plays a clip of Gus giving Daisy a terrible line reading for a Shakespearean scene. Gus repeatedly screams 'LOCKED' immediately after the line, making it impossible to edit.
"Every good clip we have, we have Gus screaming 'LOCKED!'"
"It messes up the scansion because you've added a 'lock' in this shot."
The TikTok Skit Betrayal and Bell Hooks
Daniel admits he is distracted because he's editing a TikTok skit for other friends. Gus accuses him of paternalism and suggests he read Bell Hooks, while Gianna experiences physical rage over the betrayal.
"I'm actually editing another project... I'm trying to edit a skit for TikTok for my friends."
"There's a lot of paternalism in you and you need to be reading some Bell Hooks."
"It was like a Fleabag moment. Have you seen the show Fleabag?"
"What if Daisy has a voiceover and then she can use that for a voiceover reel?"
Daniel's Uncomfortable Sister Pitch
Daniel tries to bond with Daisy by suggesting they connected as actors, eventually making it weird by asking to be her brother in real life, prompting Daisy to mention her boyfriend and suggest hiring a real editor.
"I would love to be your sister in real life."
"I do have a boyfriend and the way you're doubling down is making me process all of this."
The Accidental Zootopia Release
Gianna reveals she already released the film on Vimeo. It is immediately taken down because Daniel accidentally exported the entire movie Zootopia after the blooper reel.
"I just released it. It's on our Vimeo page. 17 views!"
"I think it's because after the blooper reel we cut to Zootopia and it's just all of the movie Zootopia."
